This book, as the title depicts, is primarily for attorneys who believe they have a forged document but do not know exactly how to proceed. It answers all the questiones to ask in depositons and on cross examination, gives an understanding of how genuiness is determined and what you need to proceed with a case. Not only is it an excellent book for attorneys but a great reference for document examiners as well. Document examiners can review the chapters to assure they do a commendable job representing their client. It also gives an excellent chapter on court citations in reference to handwriting analysis. Attorneys need no longer guess if they are approaching a case in the best way possible.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, criminals, both alleged and convicted, were routinely photographed and fingerprinted-and these visual representations of their criminal nature were archived for possible future use. At the beginning of the twenty-first century, a plethora of new tools-biometrics, DNA analysis, digital imagery, and computer databases-similarly provide new ways for representing the criminal.Capturing the Criminal Image traces how the act of representing-and watching-is central to modern law enforcement. Jonathan Finn analyzes the development of police photography in the nineteenth century to foreground a critique of three identification practices that are fundamental to current police work: fingerprinting, DNA analysis, and surveillance programs and databases. Forensic science has become in the early 21st century what the space race was in the 1960s—an accessible and inspiring window into the world of science. The surge in popularity that began in the latter part of the 20th century echoes a boom that began in the later part of the 19th century and was labeled the “Sherlock Holmes effect.” Today it is called the “C.S.I. effect,” but the consequences are the same as they were a century ago. Electronic discovery refers to a process in which electronic data is sought, located, secured, and searched with the intent of using it as evidence in a legal case. This volume offers a number of forensic indicators of election fraud applied to official election returns, and tests and illustrates their application in Russia and Ukraine. Included are the methodology's econometric details and theoretical assumptions. The applications to Russia include the analysis of all federal elections between 1996 and 2007 and, for Ukraine, between 2004 and 2007. Generally, we find that fraud has metastasized within the Russian polity during Putin's administration with upwards of 10 million or more suspect votes in both the 2004 and 2007 balloting, whereas in Ukraine, fraud has diminished considerably since the second round of its 2004 presidential election where between 1.5 to 3 million votes were falsified. The volume concludes with a consideration of data from the United States to illustrate the dangers of the application of our methods without due consideration of an election's substantive context and the characteristics of the data at hand.

Наряду с традиционными доказательствами органы предварительного расследования все чаще используют в своей практике современные научно-технические достижения, позволяющие устанавливать обстоятельства преступления на более "тонком" уровне.
