Данный сборник содержит материалы Международного круглого стола на тему: «65 лет с начала депортации жителей Украины в Казахстан», который состоялся 20 ноября 2012 года на базе Карагандинского государственного технического университета (Республика Казахстан). Начиная с 1947 года в Казахстан было депортировано около 500 тыс украинцев. В том числе, 171,5 тыс. человек – «семьи участников банд ОУН, пособники членам ОУН и члены их семей, кулаки-националисты и их семьи»; около 300 тыс. украинцев, возвратившихся из лагерей Германии и выселенных «за государственную измену» на спецпоселениев восточные районы СССР. В Казахстане с большим вниманием относятсяк сохранению исторической правды о периоде тоталитарного режима. По инициативе Президента Нурсултана Назарбаева установлен День памятижертв политических репрессий и массового голода - 31 мая, открыты музейно-мемориальные комплексы, поставлены монументы, пострадавшим в тегоды, осуществляется научно-образовательная и публицистическая работа. Государство оказывает значительное содействие для сохранения памяти о жертвах сталинских репрессий - представителей разных стран и национальностей. В частности, были установлены памятные знаки украинцам, грузинам, азербайджанцам, полякам, литовцам (на месте лагеря "АЛЖИР"), а также чеченцам, японцам, корейцам, немцам, туркам и другим репрессированным народам из 15 республик бывшего СССР (с. Спасское, с. Долинка Карагандинской области). Научно-образовательными учреждениями и общественностью Казахстана осуществляется активная поисковая работа и по теме «Голодомора», в том числе и в Казахстане, где в1932-33 гг. погибло почти 40% населения. С обретением независимости Республики Казахстан активно осуществляется реабилитация многих репрессированных лиц, которая сопровождается поддержкой со стороны государства и местных органов власти.Поэтому организаторы круглого стола посвятили выпуск данного сборника Дню Первого Президента Республики Казахстан, благодаря которому в Казахстане стало возможным не только проведение таких мероприятий, но и то, что с первых лет новейшей истории независимой Республики и поныне реализуется последовательная деятельность органов государственной власти по увековечиванию памяти невинно пострадавших людей, созданию благоприятного климата в стране для осуществления мирного труда каждого труженика, проживающего на её территории. Поставленные цели, по мнению участников, достигнуты. At the end of the 20th century, it was thought by many that the Anglo-American system of corporate governance was performing effectively and some observers claimed to see an international trend towards convergence around this model. There can be no denying that the recent corporate governance crisis in the US has caused many to question their faith in this view. This collection of essays by the leading British and American scholars provides a comprehensive attempt to answer the following questions: firstly, What went wrong—when and why do markets misprice the value of firms, and what was wrong with the incentives set by Enron? What has been done in response, and how well will it work? This study includes essays on the Sarbanes-Oxley Act in the US, UK company law reform, and European company law and auditor liability reform, along with a consideration of corporate governance reforms in historical perspective. Three approaches emerge. The first two approaches share the premise that the system is fundamentally sound, but these approaches part ways over whether a regulatory response is required. The third view, in contrast, argues that the various scandals demonstrate fundamental weaknesses in the Anglo-American system itself, which cannot hope to be repaired by the sort of reforms that have taken place.

This book is a venture in contemporary history, an effort to place in perspective developments that in some respects are not yet fully resolved. Its subject is u.s. foreign policy during the administrations of George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton, with a coda encompassing George W. Bush's first year as president. During this period, members of the foreign policy elite, breathing deeply the intoxicating vapors released during the annus mirabilis of 1989, concluded that history stood poised at a turning point. Bill Clinton interpreted the end of the Cold War as signifying "the fullness of time" - a scriptural allusion to the moment when God chose to transform history. The collapse of communism and the triumph of liberal democratic capitalism offered similar prospects for transformation, this time through human rather than divine agency. As the bloody twentieth century drew to a close, God's promise of peace on earth remained unfulfilled; it was now incumbent upon the United States, having ascended to the status of sole superpower, to complete God's work-or, as members of a largely secularized elite preferred it, to guide history toward its intended destination.
