In § 1.1. “From card catalogs to personal reader accounts: the evolution of library systems and the reader experience” (Viktor Zaika) the author describes the evolution of library systems from card catalogs to integrated electronic platforms and personalized digital services, demonstrating the profound transformation of the reader experience and the changing role of libraries in the scientific and educational sphere. The transition from manual cataloging to automated systems has not only provided quick access to resources, but has also created the conditions for the introduction of a new logic of interaction between the user and the library infrastructure. Modern technologies allow readers to independently manage their own information environment: create lists of literature, extend loan periods, order books online, receive recommendations, use digital copies of documents, and access remote support services. The transformation of traditional catalogs into full-fledged electronic user accounts significantly expands the possibilities for personalization, which is in line with the trends of a digital society dominated by mobility, speed of access, individualization, and interactivity.This evolutionary process also reflects changes in the organization of library collections and in the methods of storing and presenting information. The digitization of documents, the creation of electronic collections, and the integration of libraries into global information networks provide a new level of openness and accessibility of knowledge. As a result, the library ceases to be just a physical space and becomes a multidimensional digital service capable of providing continuous information support regardless of the user's location. The evolution of library systems demonstrates not just the modernization of technical tools, but a profound change in the logic of working with knowledge — from searching through static card records to interactive interaction with dynamic digital data.In § 1.2. “Formation of the knowledge infrastructure of the digital society: resources, services, and technologies of scientific libraries” (Serhii Harahulia, Svitlana Kyrylenko, Olena Kliushnikova, Nataliia Lakhtarina, Tetiana Polishchuk, Oksana Sandul) analyzes the formation of the knowledge infrastructure of the digital society defines the mission of scientific libraries as the core elements of the information ecosystem, providing access to structured resources, high-quality services, and modern technological solutions. In the digital environment, the library becomes not only a repository of information, but also an organizer of intellectual space, in which data acquires meaning through systematization, analytical processing, and integration into research processes. Electronic catalogs, digital repositories, scientific databases, virtual reading rooms, open science services, and bibliography management tools form a comprehensive knowledge system capable of supporting research at all stages – from searching for sources to publishing results.The role of libraries in shaping the information infrastructure also lies in ensuring technological compatibility, standardizing metadata, supporting the digital identity of researchers, and developing scientific communication services. They act as integrators, combining diverse information resources into a single, universally accessible space. In this context, the library emerges as an institution capable of ensuring the reliability, authenticity, and long-term preservation of scientific data, both traditional and digital. Thus, the development of knowledge infrastructure not only defines a new format for library activities but also creates conditions for the formation of an inclusive, open, and sustainable scientific environment.In § 1.3. “Information and analytical activities of libraries in the paradigm of the knowledge society: issues, requests, contexts” (Serhii Harahulia, Olena Kliushnikova, Oksana Sandul) the authors examine how, in the paradigm of the knowledge society, the information and analytical activities of libraries are becoming a strategically important component of scientific communication and intellectual infrastructure. The focus is shifting from collecting resources to creating added value in the form of analytics, expertise, thematic reviews, monitoring of scientific trends, assessment of publication activity, and support for academic integrity. Scientific libraries respond to the growing demands of researchers who need not only access to information, but also in-depth analysis of contexts, methodological support, and tools for working with large amounts of data. The reorientation towards analytical activities indicates the formation of a new type of library expertise that combines information literacy with research skills.The issues of information and analytical activities cover the reliability of data, the relevance of sources, the interpretation of scientometric indicators, and the provision of objective monitoring of scientific trends. In these conditions, the library becomes an intermediary between heterogeneous information flows, acting as a guarantor of quality and scientific correctness. The analytical products of libraries contribute to management decision-making in the field of science, the formation of development strategies, and the identification of priority areas of research. As a result, information and analytical activities transform the library into an active participant in the intellectual process, capable of forming new meanings and structuring knowledge on the scale of an institution or scientific community.In § 1.4. “Improving the research support system: library experience in the age of digitization” (Serhii Harahulia, Yurii Kovtaniuk), the authors reflect on the fact that in the age of digitization, improving the research support system is one of the most important vectors for the development of scientific libraries. The digital transformation of the scientific environment is changing the demands of researchers, who need comprehensive information support — from access to high-quality resources to consultations on scientific communication, data management, and open access publishing. Libraries are becoming service support centers that combine technological capabilities, information expertise, and methodological support. The development of repositories, the introduction of electronic platforms for the submission and dissemination of scientific materials, and the use of analytical tools contribute to increasing the transparency, accessibility, and reproducibility of scientific activity.Library experience in research support shows that the digital environment creates new models of interaction: personalized consulting, publication support, digital literacy training programs, academic integrity support, and data management. This enables libraries to become knowledge platforms that promote the development of research competencies and the formation of open science. At the same time, improvements to the support system allow libraries to strengthen their role in the global scientific ecosystem, ensuring the stability, sustainability, and innovation of research processes. Thus, in the digital age, the library is not only a service institution but also an active partner in science, providing a reliable foundation for the effective creation and dissemination of knowledge.
